A new milestone in the quality of patient care
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) at the patient’s bedside allows access to all relevant information for the patient treatment, and immediate and accurate data entry directly at the patient’s bedside.
REM is the result of coordination of the many needs and opinions from several hospitals. Therefore, it contains all the key features that provide efficient and quality support in hospital healthcare processes.
User friendly access to patient medical data
Healthcare professionals decide on the course and procedures of treatment on the basis of a number of of patient medical data. REM allows that these data are always available and smartly presented to the authorised healthcare professionals. Graphical overview of vital signs, overview of the prescribed drug therapy and its applications, display of laboratory results, overview of the admission data and emphasis of critical data such as allergies or critical diagnoses are just some of the many provided insights to the patient medical data. REM basically displays data in a form similar to that of a paper medical documentation.
Traceable and controlled entry of medical data
A large part of medical data is generated at the patient’s bedside. So far, most of these data have been initially recorded on paper. REM allows direct entry of data into the bedside computer. Regardless of whether medical personnel uses bedside terminals such as ClinicAll, or PCs, laptops on trolleys, or tablet computers, REM enables fast, high-quality and traceable data entry at the bedside. Moreover, based on the entered prescriptions, REM generates a drug applications and vital signs measurements plan for the entire ward. On top of that, information is collected as structured data, allowing data analysis and planning to improve treatment processes.
Solution at your fingertips
The user interface is designed for use with both mouse/keyboard input devices and touchscreen input devices. The latter offers users an unprecedented experience, especially in combination with ClinicAll devices which relieve the medical personnel of carrying additional equipment and ensure that REM is always there where they need it – at the patient’s bedside. Furthermore, REM can be used on any modern Windows personal computer in the ambulatory, doctor’s or nurse’s room, or, for example, in the meeting room at the morning meetings.
THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR
As we know that each hospital and each ward within the hospital has its own specifics, we designed the REM solution to enable a number of customizations depending on the specifics of the speciality and work organisation of a ward. Thus, it is possible to select sets of vital signs to be followed, to have sets of frequent prescriptions for each ward, to adjust schedules of therapy applications and measurements of vital signs with regard to the organisation of work of nurses in the ward, to set admission data sets regarding the ward speciality and much more.
CONNECTION WITH HIS
REM is closely integrated into the Hospital Information System Hospital 360. Therefore, REM may easily display the results of diagnostics from the connected systems such as laboratory system, admission data, allergies, diagnoses and other medical data recorded in Hospital 360 may be displayed, in their entirety or just in a selected subset. When prescribing drugs, doctors may choose a product from the database of the connected Pharmacy Information System and have immediate information on drug availability and drug equivalents. Furthermore, information on drug consumption entered by the nurse into REM is forwarded to the Pharmacy Information System to be taken into account for the stocks management.
Just like Hospital 360, REM is also based on international HISA standard for Health Informatics Services Architecture (ISO/EN 12967). This design allows the customization and upgradeability of our solutions. Adjustments and certain upgrades can be carried out just with appropriate setting code lists and catalogues, which may be done by users themselves or hospital IT department. In the case of more complex upgrades, our expert team is always ready to assist in the design and implementation of upgrades.
EMR solutions are often derived from the existing HIS solutions, and their user interface is often more adapted to the administrative work on a desktop computer with keyboard and mouse than to work at the bedside. As the data is generated and users need them right at the bedside, the REM solution is fit for bedside usage. Its role is to help physicians and nurses at their work with patients. The opportunity to be used on touchscreen devices, a data presentation similar to paper medical record familiar to users, and ease of user access to patient data with password or smart card identification are just some of the many qualities of the carefully planned user interface.
- Comparing an electronic temperature sheet to an ordinary paper temperature sheet there is a crucial difference - considerably lower consumption of paper, of course. All data is gathered on a computer, working processes are more transparent and the main advantage is the lower cost of work in the department. Particularly, the use of medications is much more transparent, every process is thoroughly specified, e.g. the schedule or therapies, which all reduces the possibilities of errors. There is of course a learning period and a need to provide good computer equipment, as well as IT support. Patients as well as visitors have particularly noticed there are no plates or sheets of paper hanging at the side of the bed.
