Communication with different kinds of laboratory information systems enables information support of the entire procedure from an examination order, sample taking and examination results transfer from a laboratory instrument to the person ordering the examination.

Communication between clinical and laboratory IS

A characteristic feature of clinical laboratories for biochemistry and hemathology is a large number of laboratory instruments and precisely defined standards and work processes. Since these functionalities are usually dealt with in specialised software houses, we have developed a module for communication with laboratory software, which enables an automatic registry of lab results into the information system of a particular organisation.

Communication between clinical and microbiological IS

We have also developed software to support a specific process of work in clinical microbiological laboratories, which also enables communication between examination performers (who use a specialised independent solution MBL to support their work in a microbiological laboratory) and persons ordering examinations whose everyday work is supported by an information system BIRPIS21. Communication between a clinical and laboratory system enables to its users a rationalisation of routine work and a possibility of control over hospital infections, which are one of the main quality pointers in every hospital.

Communication between clinical and pharmacy IS

We have developed a communication between a clinical information system BIRPIS21 and pharmacy information system LIRPIS21. Every registered material use (in the future also medication use) is automatically sent to a pharmacy for appropriate entry modification. Such communication between a clinical and pharmacy system also enables control over medication and material consumption and thus reduces the quantity of hospital stock.
