Projects abroad Technical Assistance to Health Information Standards (Slovakia)
The
Slovak government has received a World Bank loan to carry out a project of
healthcare sector modernisation in order to improve access to quality healthcare
for citizens and to ensure the financial and operative stability of the healthcare
system. The entire project consists of six components. We are working on a
project of technical support of health information standards in the third component,
which deals with information systems that support health management.
The Health Information Standards Project will support the formulation of all
health information standards for all relevant healthcare agencies at the national
level:
- The development of an HMIS strategy, including the development of necessary
supporting legislation (regarding mandatory exchange of information,
confidentiality, privacy, etc.), and the essential integration tools; a special
attention
will be given not only to supporting legislation but also to pragmatic
and effective
methodology how to successfully execute the transition to new standards
and potentially modify the roles of participating organizations in Slovakian
healthcare industry.
- The development of standards, regulations and other
mechanisms to support
the integration of health information at all levels, so that common
definitions and data structures are used and necessary information can be
exchanged;
Supporting the effective use of health IT in other parts of healthcare
sector to ensure that high quality, consistent and timely information
is provided,
both to support effective care and treatment, and to inform management
and decision-making processes at all levels.
