In every healthcare institution the role of an information system coordinator is of utmost importance, whether it is carried out by an informatics engineer, who is managing a smooth operation of a healthcare IS in the framework of his usual tasks regarding the information infrastructure of a hospital, health center or any other healthcare institution, or it is performed by a head nurse or an invoice clerk, who perform this function in addition to their normal work.

In any case, it is expected that an IS co-ordinator should have an exact knowledge of the entire organization’s activities and activities of its individual departments, as well as detailed skills of individual software solutions and their modules, functionalities, utility programs and possible connections with other software solutions. It is co-ordinators, who not only try to coordinate any new requirements or problems when they occur, but often also find themselves operating as the first level of support.
